Deeper places

On the third day there was a wedding at Cana in Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there. Jesus also was invited to the wedding with His disciples. When the wine ran out, the mother of Jesus said to Him, “They have no wine” And Jesus said to her,Woman, what does this have to do with Me? My hour has not yet come. His mother said to the servants, Do whatever He tells you. Now there were six stone water jars there for the Jewish rites of purification, each holding twenty or thirty gallons. Jesus said to the servants,Fill the jars with water. And they filled them up to the brim. And He said to them,Now draw some out and take it to the master of the feast. So they took it. When the master of the feast tasted the water now become wine and did not know where it came from (though the servants who had drawn the water knew), the master of the feast called the bridegroomand said to him, Everyone serves the good wine first, and when people have drunk freely, then the poor wine. But you have kept the good wine until now. This, the first of His signs, Jesus did at Cana in Galilee and manifested His glory. And His disciples believed in Him (John 2:1-10).

This passage is a gem when looked at from a prophetic perspective! I believe God is alluding to the end time glory and giving us a mystery in plain sight in these passages.  May God give us eyes to see and ears to hear! Jesus’ ministry began with a wedding, and the end of days is going to end with a wedding (Revelation 19:6-9).

Let’s break this passage down:

  • “and the mother of Jesus was there” – Prophetically speaking, Jesus’ mother can represent the Church. We as believers become born again through the Church, so the Church represents our mother.
  • “the mother of Jesus said to Him, “They have no wine.” This is a picture of us as the Church petitioning Jesus to move on our behalf in the last days.  This is why the scripture says, “The spirit and the bride say come!”  (Revelation 22:17) The Holy Spirit is rising up within us as His Church to long for and call on Jesus more and more with our whole hearts. Scripture says Jesus’ love is better than wine (Song 1:2). Wine represents the fullness of God, His love and glory.
  • “Woman, what does this have to do with me? My hour has not yet come.”  This is a picture of God first testing our faith.  This sounds like a rebuke from Jesus to His mother, but it is actually the Lord drawing out her faith. How will she respond?  (She responds in faith as we see in the next verse).  Likewise, we need extraordinary faith to move mountains in the last days.  And we will if we respond to the Lord as He also draws faith out of us.

I believe this verse also alludes to the last days being cut short.  Matthew 24:22 says, “If those days had not been cut short, no human being would be saved. But for the sake of the elect those days will be cut short.” Jesus’ earthly ministry began early at the request of His mother. Likewise, His return will be early at the request if His bride.

  • His mother said to the servants, “Do whatever he tells you. I believe this is a picture of our partnership with the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is always leading us to Jesus. These are our prayers, but they are in alignment with God’s will. The bride of Christ is empty; she has learned to die and let God live through her. The life she lives is by faith alone. (Galatians 2:20)
  • “Now there were six stone water jars there for the Jewish rites of purification.” 6 is the number of man (Rev 13:18). The Bible calls us vessels (2 Corinthians 4:7, 2 Timothy 2:20-21). This is a picture of His sons and daughters. Also, these jars were used for cleaning the hands and feet of guests. So this is a picture of the human heart being humble. The bible says these are the ones who will inherit the earth. (Matthew 5:5)
  • Jesus said to the servants,“Fill the jars with water.” And they filled them up to the brim.  First, we are the ones crying out to Jesus and now He is the One taking charge. He fills us with the living water of His presence in the wells of our hearts (John 4:14).
  • “Now draw some out and take it to the master of the feast.” Jesus shows the Father what He has done in us. He is the author and finisher of our faith and is getting ready to showcase His bride to the Father (Ephesian 5:25-27, Revelation 19:6-9).
  • “But you have kept the good wine until now.” This is the last day Glory! We will be filled with Him, with His glory and goodness. We will also spread that glory wherever we go. (Acts 2:17, Habakkuk 2:14)

Now that we see what is going to happen, let’s discuss how it is going to happen…

Deeper Trust leads to Divine Alignment.

There is a greater emptying to come, where we dig farther down and are giving even more to God. Dying more and shedding more. The deeper places within Christ Jesus lead to a deeper trust and a greater glory. How low can we go? We start by asking Him to take us deeper and show us His glory.

This is what I hear Him saying…

“There is a deeper place still, sons and daughters, where My glory dwells. My heart, My goodness and faithfulness. Are you not treasure hunters? Called to search out the deep things of Christ? (1 Corinthians 2:10).

Do you see treasure when you look at Me? My eyes roam the earth looking for faith. When I come, will I find it? (Luke 18:8) Am I not calling and commissioning my saints to come higher, higher, and higher still? Are you not called to climb the stairway to heaven and bring My kingdom to the earth? (Matthew 6:10)

There is a place of deeper abandonment I require. Deeper trust is needed for the last days. To come higher you must go lower. Lower, lower… and lower still. Is this not how wells are dug? You, my sons and daughters are living wells of life (John 4:14). I desire to place My glory within you. Do you not know it? Do you not perceive it? Do you feel Me tugging on your heart strings to put away the little sins and distractions that beset you (Hebrews 12:1)? I have called you deeper. Many are called but few are chosen. Few accept the invitation. Choose Me this day and serve Me (Joshua 24:14-15)). Know what love is, to lay down your life for Me (John 15:13). Learn to love Me the way I love you. I invite you My children.”

We have access to His glory by faith. This comes from sitting in the secret place.

God wants us to live with an end times mentality. He wants us to know the days are short and live with fervency to see His kingdom come.

Mark 13:33 – Be on guard, keep awake. For you do not know when the time will come.

He is awakening fervency within us, a burning within, a spiritual sobriety. It is a fervency to know Him so we can spread the fragrance of His knowledge throughout the earth. He wants our home to be the secret place. Divine alignment leads to divine strategy. He wants His sons and daughters to know what He is doing. We are His partners in the work of ministry. From us flows the Well Spring of life, Jesus. When we are full, then He will pour us out. This is how His glory will cover the earth.

Please say this prayer with me

Father, I come to You in Jesus name. Empty me, take me to the deepr places in Christ Jesus. Fill me with the knowledge of Your will. Tether my heart to Yours. I give You permission to search me out, to test my heart and reveal everything that gets inbetween You and I. I want to Know You. I want to be an end time vessel of honor filled with Your love, glory and goodness. Set a refiners fire within me that will never go out. Nothing is off limits to You. Thank you for this. I love You, in Jesus name I pray… amen.
